Resistance: Fall of Man January 27, 2008

I have really enjoyed playing Resistance offline. Online in my own opinion, isn't very fun. I never really got into the multiplayer. I have really got into the single player though. I just couldn't put my controller down.

STORY:

Okay, so the story is that during the 1930s Russia was supposedly performing their own biological experiments on a virus that broke out. The Chimera Virus is what they called it. The virus wiped out towns in a single day, then resumed to wipe out people in whole cities. For over one decade, the spread of the virus remained dormant in Russia until 1949 the virus wiped out all of Europe except England. In 1950, the Chimera virus started to invade England. Then one year later America launched an attack on the Easter coast of England. On the second attack Sergeant Nathan Hale (you), must stop the spread of the Chimera virus.

CONTROLS:

I have got to say that I'm impressed with the way the controls handle. It doesn't feel slippery at all. I've never had any problems with the controls.

ENEMIES:

Now, onto the enemies. The majority of the enemies you're going to fight are Chimeras. These are mutants of what formerly used to be pure humans. The Chimera Virus ravages the human's body, using it as a host and as a way to mutate it, to make it stronger and faster. NOTE: DO NOT TAKE THESE GUYS HEAD ON! If you are willing to try and kill several of these things at once, be my guest. By the way, you'll die...a lot. The chimeras will wipe you out compared to damage you do to them. They aren't that powerful but they can inflict a lot of damage when in great numbers. My best advice to you is to take it slow.

ACCURACY:

I don't really know what to say here except that your weapons are pretty accurate. If you want to kill Chimera's faster, I would recommend headshots. They're kind of hard to pull off but gets easier when you practice. The best weapon to use in my opinion is the M4.

GRAPHICS:

I am pretty impressed with the graphics. The environment looks realistic. The enemies a first might seem cartooish but if you look up closely, after you kill them and you'll see how truly cool and realistic they look. Trust me, the graphics on the different environments gets better and better.

LEVELS:

The levels were designed pretty well. I'm pretty impressed with the levels. At first, you'll have a hard time getting around cause you won't be able to know where to go but you'll figure it out. The farthest I've gotten was to Manchester. I plan to advance further in the game to see how good it really gets.

MULTIPLAYER:

I never really got into the multiplayer. I joined three different games and they all had the one-shot-kills enabled. I know this isn't an only option. I enjoy challenges like that but I didn't really get into it. The spawning for multiplayer is broken in this game. Sometimes when I respawn, I will spawn near the enemies and will get shot ASAP before I can move. The maps are also a problem. They’re too small. I really don’t like how they designed the maps. They should’ve made them bigger.

CONCLUSION:

So, I would say that this game is worth checking out. The controls are great. The graphics are great. The accuracy for some weapons are great. The levels are big and will take time to pass. The enemies are kind of hard and offer you a challenge. The multiplayer in my opinion is just bad. If I were you, I’d stay away from it. If you like the multiplayer, good for you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I haven’t completed the game. I had fun when I was playing it. Maybe I’ll rent it again some day and play it to the finish. I would say it’s worth renting but not worth a purchase. Many games these days aren’t worth purchasing. This one is definitely not worth purchasing but definitely worth renting. Thanks a lot for reading.
